What it does

Codex is OpenAI's coding agent, which reads repositories, edits files, runs commands and proposes changes. It runs locally as an open-source CLI (Apache-2.0) and IDE extension, in a desktop app, and as cloud tasks started from ChatGPT on the web or the ChatGPT mobile apps. OpenAI now documents it as part of ChatGPT.
