What it does

pgvector is an open-source PostgreSQL extension that adds vector similarity search to Postgres, so embeddings can live alongside regular data. It provides vector, half-precision, binary and sparse vector types, L2, inner product, cosine and other distances, and HNSW and IVFFlat indexes for approximate search, and is available from many hosted Postgres providers.
